Why the name
Farmers fatten pigs before slaughter. Here, the scammer "fattens" your confidence with weeks of friendly mentoring and a trading app showing steady profits — then takes everything at once.
The four acts
- Contact: a wrong-number text or dating-app match, friendly, never pushy about money at first.
- Mentoring: your new friend trades crypto/forex brilliantly and offers to teach you. Small initial deposit, small real-seeming returns.
- The app: you install their platform (outside official app stores). Every trade wins. Your balance climbs. Friends-and-family bonuses pull in people you love.
- The slaughter: withdrawal needs a "tax", a "margin fee", "verification deposit" — each paid, each followed by a bigger demand, until the site vanishes.
The profits were never real. The app was a theatre set showing numbers the scammer typed.
The tests that expose it
- The store test: legitimate platforms live in official app stores with years of reviews. Sideloaded APKs and TestFlight links are the scam's home turf.
- The withdrawal test: deposit a small amount, then withdraw immediately. Scam platforms block, delay, or fee-gate the very first exit.
- The licence test: check the platform against your markets regulator before depositing anything large.
- The mentor test: unsolicited trading mentors do not exist in legitimate finance. Full stop.
